Animal Shelter Volunteer Opportunities
Cat Room Assistance: Assist staff with the daily cleaning of cathouse, socialize the cats; help with laundry and dishes.
Dog Walking: Walk dogs on leash on the shelter grounds and exercise in our fenced yards, providing training and socialization to increase adoptability during the animals’ stay at our shelter; help with laundry and dishes.
Dog Kennel Assistance: Assist staff with the daily cleaning of kennels, help with laundry and dishes.
Fundraising Assistance: Provide assistance with marketing and fundraising.
Maintenance: Landscaping (mowing lawn, weeding, etc.), general facility maintenance.
Odds and Ends: Assist with laundry and dishes, filling kongs, etc. anything else that needs to be done that day.
Outreach & Events Assistance: Participate in community events all over the Mt. Washington Valley area to promote the work of the Conway shelter.
Office Assistance: Provide administrative support to the staff at CAHS with data entry, filing and paperwork support.
Thrift Stores: Provide assistance at the Harrison House or ReTails.
Adoption Promotion Assistance: Take digital photos of animals awaiting adoption, create descriptive write-ups to promote the animals to potential adopters, administer canine-ality and feline-ality tests.
Foster Care: Provide a temporary home to animals who need a bit of time and extra TLC before being made available for adoption and going to their new homes.
Shelter Greeter: Greet the public in our adoption area (must have excellent customer service skills).
Veterinary Clinic Assistance: Assist the medical team with various tasks in the shelter’s clinic.
Junior Volunteer: We do require at least a three month time commitment so that we can make the most of your time and the training we will give you. You must be at least 12 years old to volunteer as a Junior Volunteer, 16 years old to volunteer without a parent/guardian. If you are 11 or younger, you may become a volunteer in our Fuzzy Tails Reading Club. Please have your parent call our Volunteer Coordinator at 603.447.5955.
