Dozer is a loving, handsome, two-and-a-half-year-old chocolate Lab with a very sad story. He came to us because his owner didn’t have time for him, and upon arrival was very skinny and drinking bowl after bowl of water. Initial X-rays showed an enlarged kidney, and a biopsy was recommended. Dozer made two trips to a veterinary specialist in Portland and he has been diagnosed with liver shunt disease, which can be managed with medication and a special diet. Surgery may be possible, but it is expensive.
Dozer deserves someone who will love him for the sweet and special fellow that he is. He will also need for his adopter to provide him with the food and medication that he requires, and to pay for the further testing and surgery that he may require. Dozer is housetrained, knows his basic commands, and he enjoys going for short walks and being outside in the warm sunshine. At this point we can’t be sure how much time he may have left, but what is certain is that Dozer shouldn’t have to spend his final days in a shelter.

1000-100-10 Challenge
From April 1 through 10 Conway Area Humane Society experienced incredible support from the community and beyond. With a massive media blitz calling for folks to send in $100 donations in the 10-day period, CAHS exceeded its $100,000 goal! Thanks to all of you who took part and/or followed the project toward success! Among the many folks in the community who helped with the challenge, Jackson Grammar School raised $150 toward the 1000-100-10 Challenge by collecting pennies for pups. The project was organized by Emily Davis, pictured above handing a check to CAHS director Virginia Moore.
In Memory of Terry Bunch
The shelter staff lost one of our own April 29 when Terry Bunch passed away at her home in Conway. A hard worker, cheerful friend to the animals and her co-workers, Terry is greatly missed. The staff and board are honoring Terry with a memory plaque to hang on a cat cage on “her wall” in the cat facility at the shelter.
Kennel Sponsorship Program
The Conway Area Humane Society has announced the launch of a kennel sponsorship program. All proceeds from this project will support the work of the CAHS in caring for homeless animals.
