The 18th Annual Walk for the Animals and Bark in the Park held in Schouler Park on Saturday, September 26 saw the biggest crowd in the event’s history. Sunny skies and cool temperatures brought many people and their dogs to the event to enjoy the dog show, carnival games, demos and pet related vendors.

Top fundraisers for the day in the team category included Paws for a Cause bringing in $2615; JT Realty Power Paws with $3070 and the Friends of Furries team raising $6741. Top individual fundraisers include Stacy Sand with $2601; Allison McAllister at $2615; and Sandy Kurtz bringing in $4000. The Walk alone brought in over $25,000.

A special fundraiser this year was 14-year-old Travis Brown. He did the walk in spite of his struggle with Cerebral Palsy, and raised over $1500 with donations still coming in! Travis walked his foster dog, Xena, and at the end of the event during the parade of breeds it was announced that Travis would be adopting his best friend Xena.
