Wednesday
April, 18 2001 -Conway Daily Sun - The Conway Area
Humane Society is in the middle of a capital campaign to raise
$1.5 million to build a state-of-the-art animal resource center
on 25 acres in Conway. The campaign just passed the halfway
point at $836,000, thanks to an anonymous $50,000 donation.
This new community center will offer a
wide array of educational and social services.
Joan Ames and Rose Robinson were welcomed
on April 5 as the newest board members to the Conway Area
Humane Society.
Ames, an elementary school teacher
in Conway for 25 years, sees the humane society as a chance
to create some new innovative and educational opportunities
for the children in the valley. She is also seeking to involve
and excite children about this project, which she believes
is a valuable addition to the community.
Robinson, of Wright Realty, has been
in real estate for 14 years in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
She believes in the humane society's dedication to the human/animal
bond. Concerns for companion animals can influence many life
choices that people make. She realizes the need for an all-inclusive
animal resource center for the Mount Washington Valley, and
she believes that the Conway Area Humane Society is the perfect
way to serve both people and their animals.
