Marketing Strategy
Our aim is to make visitors and local residents
aware of the quality animal care available in the
Mount Washington Valley--to let them know that CAHS
exists here and what we offer the community. Our website
will offer the center and all of its services to the
World Wide Web. Animals ready for adoption and CAHS
activities will be highlighted on our website, in
local business sponsored newspaper ads, and on a weekly
cable TV show. Many fund-raising events will be held
throughout the year including a Canine Car Rally,
Top Dog Competition, Feline Follies, and anything
creative to keep the CAHS in people's minds. A monthly
spot on the WMWV Drive Time Show will highlight different
issues.
Operations
The Animal Shelter and Education Center will
be overseen by a Board of Directors who will hire
and review the Executive Director, make policy, and
determine philosophy.
Roz Manwaring, Executive Director, was employed by
HHAS for six years. During that time she took the
opportunity to extensively research animal sheltering
at every level and became very aware of the need for
an animal shelter nearby in New Hampshire. She left
HHAS in January 1999 to form the Conway Area Humane
Society. An article in the March 13 Conway Daily Sun
newspaper asked the community what it thought of the
idea of a full-service animal care facility for the
Mount Washington Valley. The response was very enthusiastic;
the Board was gathered by April 2 and the process
of creating a non-profit New Hampshire corporation
began.
