I
wanted a dog all of my life, and when my husband
and I moved to New Hampshire, we knew the time
was right. I called a northern New Hampshire shelter,
and was told they had an awesome lab-mix waiting
to be adopted. My husband and I drove over immediately.
We saw a beautiful dog that was growling ferociously
at us and baring his teeth. But the shelter director
begged us to give the dog a chance, as she assured
us that the dog was merely frightened. Bear was
brought out to us, gave me an enormous kiss, and
I immediately fell in love.
We've had Bear now for over five years, and he's
the most loving, gentle, loyal animal I've ever
met. We take him virtually everywhere we go; he
has even been to a wedding and a graduation! He
is truly one of the best friends I've ever had
in my life.
