WHEN SANTA PAWS CAME TO TOWN
On Sunday, December 7, Santa Paws came to town. Well, to Four Your Paws Only to be exact, where over 80 dogs and cats waited patiently to tell their secret wishes to Santa and have their picture taken with the jolly ol' fellow.
"I was almost bit this year, and urinated on just once," chuckled Brian Ahearn aka Santa Paws and owner of Four Your Paws Only. "Oh, and a couple of kittens got tangled up in my beard," he laughed. "But it was all for a great cause and we raised some money to support the homeless animals waiting to be adopted at the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North," he concluded.
"This is our 15th year offering Pet Photos with Santa Paws," said Kathy Ahearn aka 'the photographer' who co-owns Four Your Paws Only along with her husband Brian. “We were very pleased to see so many dogs and puppies as well as two cats and two kittens come out to visit Santa and support the Conway shelter.”
Many folks also brought supplies and goodies for the shelter in addition to their donation for their photo.
“We also saw quite a few ARL North alumni,” she said, including Turner, an adorable hound mix who was at the shelter for over a year. It seemed like he would never find a home until his new owner came along. He told us that Turner is a fantastic dog and can't believe he was there so long. Dozer, the critically ill chocolate lab also visited. Dozer came to the shelter in need of a liver shunt surgery. ARL North reached out to the community last spring to help pay for Dozer’s treatment and the community responded. His surgery was successful, and to make matters even better, Dozer was adopted by a wonderful caring person! He will never be 100%, but Dozer has quality of life and someone who loves him, who could ask for more?
The event raised over $450.00 and ARL North Volunteer Coordinator Kim Henry stuffed her car with the much appreciated and needed donated supplies to take back to the shelter. The day was a success for all, even for Buddy, the large orange and white cat who has been waiting at Four Your Paws Only in the ‘Adopt Me Kitty Cart.” Buddy is crossing his paws that his holiday wish will come true, as Buddy was seen pulling Santa Paws aside to request the one thing on his Christmas list — a forever home with someone to love. Rumor has it that someone has filled out an application on Buddy, but shhh, it's a secret, and hopefully Buddy's wish will come true.
