Mount Washington Valley Dog Park Begins Monthly Yappy Hour
The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire will launch the first Yappy Hour for dogs and their humans, on Saturday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The dog park is located behind the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, at 223 East Main Street in Conway.
The first Yappy Hour will include a pool party for the dogs and refreshments for canines and humans alike. There is no admission for the party with a recommended donation of $5 for the event. A year-long pass to the dog park will be raffled that evening, and day passes will be available for anyone who would like to try out the park before joining.
According to ARL-North Director Virginia Moore, the dog park has been a wonderful addition to the community. “It provides dogs the opportunity to run and socialize with other dogs in a safe environment, and for animal lovers to connect with one another.” She adds that “the park is a very friendly place with a number of people who come regularly or even daily to the park with their dogs.” This includes dogs that may not be able to reliably be let off leash, or owners who are unable to provide their pets with the kind of exercise they need. Several dog park members have mentioned that they are relieved to have a place where their dogs can run without concern about cars, and that they love going home with a tired but happy canine.
Moore adds that “we’d like to have Yappy Hour as a regular event so that people can come down and see what the dog park is all about.”
Membership to the dog park is $50 per year, and an additional $10 per dog for multiple dogs. The dog park is open dawn to dusk.
