Board President Anita Burroughs told the crowd that, “We were seeking an executive director who could demonstrate compassion and caring for the animals we care for and their human counterparts.” She added that, “The CAHS needs a leader who will command the respect of the staff, the board of directors, and the community we serve, as well as someone who is a proven healer.” Moore was then announced as the person who best exemplified all of these attributes. Burroughs added that Moore has also demonstrated the ability to be a “fearless fundraiser,” a quality that the organization was seeking in an executive director.
Moore is a long-time area resident, who has a background in animal care. She also worked for the Mountain Ear for 15 years, and the Mount Washington Observatory for 5 years, where she was an integral part of the fundraising and event activities. Moore is someone who is well-known and well-liked in the Mt. Washington Valley.
Burroughs states that, “Virginia is one of the kindest human beings I have ever met. She is also a passionate advocate for the CAHS, and works around the clock for the organization. We are fortunate that Virginia has accepted the position of Executive Director, and the board has every confidence that she will do well in her new role.”
