Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North raises record funds for the animals at Tuxes and Tails auction gala
Saturday November 14 dawned to clouds and torrential rain in Mt. Washington Valley but nothing could dampen the spirits at the Tuxes and Tails dinner, auction and dance to benefit the animals in the care of the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North. Held at the Wentworth Inn in Jackson, this event also marked the beginning of the affiliation of the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (The League) and the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North (ARL North). CEO and President of The League Caroline Boyd attended the event and addressed the enthusiastic crowd, announcing the new partnership. “We are all very excited about the new relationship between the two animal rescue organizations that will allow us to expand services and help more animals throughout the state of New Hampshire,” Boyd said. Boyd will serve as CEO and President of both The League and ARL North.
Both silent and live auctions brought much bidding activity, with the “hot” items including the opportunity to immortalize your pet in best-selling author Lisa Gardner’s 2011 novel; a week at the Beach in Maine; and a bicycle trip to Slovenia, Austria and Italy with VBT, including airfare. Many bidders came forward to support the Veterinary expenses at the shelter, raising nearly $20,000 for that project alone. The total net raised from the evening was nearly $36,000, all to help the animals. It costs approximately $1400 per day to operate the Conway shelter.
A huge thank you to event sponsors Merrill Lynch, Northway Bank, Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital and Alpine Title, as well as all volunteers, auction item donors and event attendees.
