Top Cat Marty on the Mountain is an Animal Planet Star
Remember the Cat Primary last January? Mount Washington Observatory cat mascot, Nin, announced his retirement from the summit and Marty, feline winner of the January 2008 New Hampshire Cat Primary, was voted in as Nin’s successor. Marty, running against two other Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North (ARL North) felines in a race that gained national attention, won by a landslide on his “cheeseburgers and fish heads for everyone” platform!
The ARL North is pleased to announce that our very own celeb, Marty, now happily living atop Mount Washington, will be featured on Animal Planet’s “Dogs 101/Cats 101”†feature scheduled to air at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 13.
“We are very proud of Marty,” commented ARL North Executive Director Virginia Moore, “We had so much fun working with the Observatory on the cat primary last winter. All three ‘top cat‚’ contestants, Marty, Sarah, and Wilson, ran great campaigns with the help of volunteer writer and cat translator, Hope Ullman, and the staff in our cat adoption center. Sarah and Wilson were winners, too, as both were adopted and by all reports are very happy in their forever homes.”
Dogs 101/Cats 101 is produced for Animal Planet by Powderhouse Productions out of Somerville. John Tomlin is co-executive producer and Robert Kirwin and Sean Baker Carter are the executive producers for Powderhouse Productions and Melinda Toporoff is the executive producer for Animal Planet.
