Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire - North establishes the Dancer/Dozer Medical Fund
Dozer, a skinny, lethargic and underdeveloped two-and-a-half-year-old Chocolate Lab was surrendered to ARL North by an owner who could no longer care for him. Through medical testing we learned that Dozer was suffering from liver shunt disease. His condition required a very expensive medical test to determine whether or not Dozer would be a candidate for surgery, which in turn would incur further expense. ARL North put the word out that Dozer needed help, and help came. Time Warner Cable posted a video about his plight online and donations began to come in to help him. Dozer had his surgery in May. The surgery was very invasive, and Dozer‚s medical condition a month later finds him still in serious condition. He continues to be on a special diet and on medication, and is in the process of undergoing further testing to see if the surgery was successful and if he will improve.

Dancer the little gray cat came to ARL North during this same time period with the same medical problem. Dancer, too, was found to be a surgical candidate. Word of Dancer’s need went out on various cat blogs and the cat blogosphere. Again, the funds poured in to help Dancer, and his surgery was very successful. Dancer still resides at the shelter where is becomes stronger every day, and he will soon be available for adoption.
Thanks to the many kind dog and cat lovers who donated to help these two creatures in need, they have a second chance. Everyday animals pass through the shelter doors in need of expensive medical care. As a result of Dancer and Dozer’s experiences, ARL North has established the Dancer and Dozer animal medical fund. All those who wish to contribute to this fund can be assured all financial contributions will be used to help animals like Dancer and Dozer.
